専門 真宗学（親鸞思想と世界）
【研究課題】
死の前の寂しさ、愛する人との別れの悲しみに届くような仏教の死生観と救済観を研究し、医療福祉と仏教の協力によるビハーラ活動に取り組む。
東日本大震災の被災地を震災直後から訪問し、遺族と心の交流をつづけている。
2014年、東北大学大学院と連携して「臨床宗教師研修」を龍谷大学大学院実践真宗学研究科に開設。
